Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were has reiterated his commitment to supporting needy students pursue their dream careers at later stages of life.
The lawmaker on Friday rewarded at least 300 top Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2019 performers with Sh10,000. The beneficiaries comprise of 150 boys and 150 girls from both private and public schools.
While presenting the cheques to the students in Oyugis Town, the lawmaker urged the students to make good use of the funds awarded to them so that they can benefit the society in future.
He revealed that Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has set aside Sh3 million for sponsoring education of the needy students.
“We are giving each pupil Sh10,000, a special bursary as an award for the excellent academic performance they demonstrated in the KCPE . This initiative will enhance competition among pupils and this will improve academic performance in this constituency,” said Were.
The lawmaker said that the funds will be paid directly to the bank accounts of the schools the students have been admitted.
He said that his leadership will ensure that the students are motivated so that they can excel in their education.
He also urged parents and teachers to support the students in the pursuit of excellence.
