Political analyst Prof Edward Kisiang'ani has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta not to proceed with the planned implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
In a tweet on Wednesday, Kisiang'ani said that the implementation of the report is not only a waste of time but also money.
He reminded the head of state to ensure that the 2010 constitution is fully implemented to the letter if the nation wants to realise its goals as far as development is concerned.
He wondered how the report will transform the lives of the people yet the current regime has not been able to implement the constitution.
"On New Year's Eve, President Uhuru delivered a message of hope n unity. I wish, however, to request him to do us one favour in 2020. Abandon the BBI project. It is a waste of money n time. Just fully implement the 2010 Constitution then our country will get back on track (sic)!" he tweeted.
In his New Year Message, Uhuru said that he will use the BBI report to re-introduce several changes in governance as he seeks to leave behind a legacy. He noted that the process of implementing the report is on course.
"A key aspect of this quest will be anchored under the Building Bridges Initiative; a process aimed at comprehensively addressing both historical and emerging national challenges," Uhuru said.
