Billionaire businessman Jimnah Mbaru has waded into the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate downplaying the hype over it.
In a tweet on Monday, Mbaru said BBI could be another experiment being mooted in country's pursuit for a workable governing structure.
"BBI maybe another experiment. We have had many experiments eg, Mlolongo nominations in 1988, one party rule, sharing of governing 2009, 2010 constitution etc. Experiments on how to govern ourselves will continue until......" tweeted Mbaru, who vied for Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2013 general election.
BBI is a brainchild of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga and was established following their March 9, 2018, famous handshake.
The report, which was compiled over the last 18 months, will be handed over to the duo at the State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the document by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji-led taskforce will be made public during a function which will be held at the Bomas of Kenya.
Various politicians such as Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru have expressed hope that the report will capture the 'handshake spirit' of uniting and bringing peace to the country.
“I anticipate a report that has taken into consideration the various views of Kenyans as presented by various groups. I also expect that the report captures an expanded executive and most importantly that it explicitly factors the issue of gender equality across board," Waiguru said as quoted by the Nation.
Other politicians such as Garissa Women Representative Anab Subow Gure have dismissed the report and vowed not to read it.
"Can't even have time to read. No more recycling of old guards. Period! Hustlers nation doing press-ups. William Ruto unstoppable in 2022," Gure said.
