Raila Odinga's spokesman Dennis Onyango has dismissed claims that his boss is increasingly under siege over Kibra poll scheduled for Thursday this week.
Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday claimed that Mr Odinga is under siege, arguing that the pressure has forced him to call for reinforcement.
Ruto, who has fielded McDonald Mariga in the Kibra race, insisted that the former Harambee Stars midfielder will emerge victorious in the poll.
“Things are thick in Kibra. Those who thought it was their stronghold have now had to borrow support across parties. If you see someone seeking help of this kind in his stronghold, just know that things are bad,” Ruto chided.
Odinga, who served as area MP for two decades, is keen to have ODM retaining the seat. He has organised several campaigns in the region in support of Imran Okoth.
On Saturday, Governors Charity Ngilu and Alfred Mutua pitched tent in Kibra, campaigning for the ODM candidate ahead of the polls.
But Mr Onyango says ODM has not asked for reinforcement, arguing that the leaders joining the party's campaigns are aware of impending history.
"Parties and leaders gravitating to ODM in Kibra is a case of history taking a turn; not an appeal for reinforcement as @WilliamsRuto sees it.
"Whenever history takes a turn, it leaves some stranded on the path it is turning from, who will always insist history is still with them," he said.
Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta are crafting a system that will incorporate all Kenyan communities in the country's top leadership.
