Muema has been in the Intensive Care Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital for the past 28 days, after he was shot by thugs in a shop.

In his hospital bed, Muema said he was shot when depositing money at a shop in Kasarani.

"There were two women and they were acting suspiciously. They kept glancing around. The thugs entered after the women left and ordered us to lie down," said Muema as quoted by Standard.

He said that after being ordered to lie down, one of the thugs pointed a gun at the shopkeeper.

Muema took a stone and hit the thug on the head, in an attempt to rescue himself and the shopkeeper.

One of the thugs shot aimlessly at Muema, who tried to escape together with the shopkeeper. He and the shopkeeper were rescued by residents who rushed them to the hospital.

Although Muema is out of danger, his bill at the hospital has surged.

So far, the bill is at one million shillings, and the family is worried it will be more by the time Muema is discharged.

Friends and relatives have given their contribution, but it is still not enough.

The family has urged well-wishers to help the family raise the much-needed cash.
