Police in Eldoret has netted 24 cartons of Simba Waragi illegal liquor at Riverside in the outskirts of Eldoret town.
According to Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Johnston Ipara, the suspects were arrested after his officers received a tip-off from members of the public.
“I want to confirm that we have netted 24 cartons of illegal alcohol with the brand Simba Waragi at Riverside which is brought in the country illegally from Uganda,” Ipara said.
The police boss further noted that 150 litres of Changaa was also netted during the operation conducted on Sunday.
“The suspects managed to escape, the police are hunting for them. I urge them to either surrender or face the full force of the law. We cannot allow such business to continue,” the police boss said.
He warned those engaging in illegal business activities to stop immediately, and find alternative legal sources of income, failure to which the law will catch up with them.
The police boss said the operation against illicit liquor will continue across the county without fear or favour.
Ipara urged residents to be keen, and report any suspicious happenings around their various neighbourhoods.
