Award-winning music band Sauti Sol on Thursday confirmed their historic achievement after closing a deal with one the world's best music company, Universal Music Group (UMG).
Sauti Sol through a post on Instagram revealed they had sealed a deal with the music label and are looking forward to drop a new album.
"It's official! Our first major recording deal, @universalmusicgroup. Thank you guys for being patient. We really hope y'all are ready for the new album," they posted.
This is a historic move for Sauti Sol in being the first Kenyans to sign with UMG.
Diamond Platnumz and his country woman, Vanessa Mdee are the only other artistes working under UMG in East Africa.
Sauti Sol's Bien while reacting to deal said it will be a change in their musical journey.
"I love new beginnings. I have waited for this day for all my life. I can't wait to share love, music and be back on the road."
"The year off has really been a steep learning curve. But I couldn't think of a better way to come back than this album. @sautisol fans are about to have a blast. I LOVE YOU ALL," Bien reacted to their new deal.
Chimano, on the other hand, said it was his dream to work with UMG.
"Always wanted and wondered what it would feel like to be signed to a major! Well It's official! Our first major label deal, @universalmusicgroup, you’ve been awesome and so supportive during this process thank you loads! Thank you guys for being patient. We really hope y'all are ready for the new album coz it SLAPS!!! I’m even shook myself!! Sauti Sol to the world," he stated.
