Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i on Friday announced that the national government has allocated Sh200 million shillings in this Financial year (2019/2020) for Suneka airstrip to be upgraded.
Matiang'i speaking when he commissioned the e-passport centre in Kisii said the government is committed to complete stalled projects.
He said he will use his capacity as a coordinate for national government projects to ensure completion of stalled projects in Kisii and Nyamira Counties.
"Suneka airstrip once completion is done trade will improve, more jobs for our youths, increase in revenue collection in Kisii thus eradicate poverty. Local leaders need to focus on development and not continued hatred politics based on political parties," said Matiang'i.
The former education Cs appealed to politicians to shun corruption dealings saying public funds should be used to fund development projects.
Matiang'i was in the company of ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru and Education CS Prof.George Magoha, Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Senator Prof.Sam Ongeri,County MP Janet Ongera, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka, Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi, Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu and Dagoreti North MP Simba Arati.
