ARV drugs are used for quelling and preventing the proliferation of HIV virus. The side effects associated with treatment varies from one person to another. Moreover, not all experience the effects, some don't.
If you need to avoid the side effects, then change your lifestyle. Shun drinking alcohol, smoking, eat well and try embracing exercises.
Here are the side effects of the medication as highlighted by Jonathan E. Kaplan, MD, an internal medicine and (adult) infectious diseases specialist;
1. Headaches
To some HIV positive people, they often experience headaches. This shouldn't worry you because it normally disappears after sometimes. Like any drug, if you take the ARV without eating anything, chances are you will have to feel uncomfortable and have some headaches.
2. Diarrhoea
Another side effect associated with the drug is diarrhoea. You shouldn't ignore it. Talk to your doctor about it and he or she will tell you the way forward. You might be given some OTC drugs to counteract it.
3. Nausea
This is another effect you will experience after consuming the drug. Like mentioned above, ensure that you have eaten something before using the drug or else you will end up vomiting the drug.
4. Fatigue
You will get to experience this effect after changing the drug, shifting to another ARV drugs. If it persists, then talk to your doctor and he will advise you on what to do.
