Former Langata Member of Parliament aspirant Stanley Livondo has been the latest notable politician to throw his weight behind the proposed constitutional amendments.
Forces allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta have been banking on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to propose amendments that will among others, expand the executive arm of government.
In an interview on Radio Citizen Wednesday night, the politician stressed on the need for the changes, saying that they will go a long way in centralizing leadership and national decision making by including all Kenyans.
"We must go for a referendum. This is not for the sake of the rich, the problem is that the in current constitution the common citizen seems excluded (Referendum lazima tuende. Na sio eti ni ya matariji, ile katiba iko sasa Wanjiku hayuko popote)," he said on Jungu Kuu show.
He also warned Deputy President William Ruto and his allies who have been opposed to the changes, at s time when the group has been claiming that the proposal is designed to create positions for top politicians currently in the cold.
He warned that should they manage to shoot the referendum down, then they will be properly dealt with in the 2022 polls.
"We are headed for a referendum but should the changes flop we will sent the oppsers home in 2022 (Vile tunaenda referendum ikirudi isenekane hakuna, wale ambao wanapiga mdomo tutawatuma nyumbani 2022)," he claimed.
