The law requires that all property owners repaint their buildings every two years to keep them attractive. The first-term county boss has narrowed down to seven building owners after it emerged that they have not been painted for some time.

The buildings include Commercial House, Leon House (Tom Mboya Street), Jiame House (Haile Selassie), Ambassador House (Moi Avenue), Loise House (Latema Road) and Karachi House (River Road).

Sonko had given the owners of the buildings until the end of July to repaint their buildings but they never responded to the directive. In a statement released to the media houses by acting County Secretary Leboo Morintat said in a statement on Thursday, Sonko said that the numbers of the building’s owners are numbered after they defied his order.

“We believe that they all read our notice which we published in the local dailies and that is why we are going for them,” read part of the notice.

The county government on Thursday arrested 10 people for failing to comply with the laws of the county government. The suspects were arraigned in court for breaching the Public Health Cap 242 and County By-Laws.

The county government is now targeting users of the buildings, caretakers as well as owners for defying the directive from the county government.
