Politician Brian Weke has predicted tough times ahead for Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who is being investigated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The county boss was on Tuesday grilled at Integrity Center over graft dealings at City Hall revolving around the questionable payment of 13 firms to handle garbage in the city.
He is also being probed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) over possible tax issues, which Weke, a lawyer, says could land him in court, automatically throwing him out of office.
According to the former Makadara parliamentary hopeful, the county chief could be arrested and arraigned before a court in the course of next week, before Friday.
"Looking at the situation I don't think we will reach Friday before his arraignment (Vile naona mambo haifiki Friday bila Sonko kupelekwa kortini)," he said on Radio Jambo on Saturday.
Also present for the Saturday morning analysis show was Makadara MP George Aladwa, his predecessor Benson Mutura and Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura.
Weke said that judging by the complicated situation around the governor, considering that he lacks a deputy, the seat could go to Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi.
About Elachi's ouster by Members of the Assembly, he observed that she has since been reinstated by the court, making her the third in command in the county.
"She was impeached but was reinstated by the court, making her the acting speaker. However, the law doesn't recognise an acting speaker and therefore she is the speaker (Elachi alitolewa lakini korti ikamrudisha sasa yeye ni acting speaker. Lakini ukiangalia katiba haina acting speaker, yeye ni speaker)," he added.
Sonko on Thursday said that he is ready to carry his cross and leave office should the two entities find him with questions to answer.
