US-based Kenyan law scholar Prof Makau Mutua has expressed his desire to be the Chief Justice of Kenya.Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Mutua said that he is ready to take over the position because of the great love he has for Kenya."I would take the CJ position for the love of my country, it would not, however, be the pinnacle of my achievements," he said.

He lamented that the state of affairs in the Judiciary is appalling, adding that there is a need for change. 

He further asked the officers in the Judiciary to discharge their duties without fear or favour of any kind.

 The lawyer, however, raised concern over the increased cases of graft noting that the nation has continued to lag behind in terms of development because of a few individuals who loot what is meant to help the general public.  He added that time has come for Kenyans to stand up and say no to graft pointing out that almost all Kenyans have been forced to bribe at some point to get assistance or assist someone."Almost 100% of Kenyans have accepted or given a bribe to avoid the law," he said.
