Veteran Kenyan footballer and sports commentator Boniface Ambani has hit out at Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
Speaking on NTV, the former Tusker player claimed that the county boss abandoned renowned boxer Conjestina after playing PR with her.
"Conjestina, just look at what happened. Sonko went with a lot of PR, they should stop. He went there with the intention of rescuing Conjestina but abandoned her later on. (Conjestina mwenyewe angalia ni nini ilifanyika. Sonko alienda, PR mingi wanafaa wawache. Alienda huko ati anaenda kurescue Conjestina baadae akamwacha), " Ambani fired.
Conjestina has been battling with mental issues that saw her undergo treatment at the Mathari Mental Hospital.
Governor Sonko took up her case and financed her treatment but reportedly abandoned her.
She had improved thanks to that treatment but media reports indicate that she has relapsed and has been consuming illicit brews at her village in Umira, Siaya.
Ambani bemoaned the treatment that sportsmen and women get.
He also singled out Deputy President Dr William Ruto for criticism for visiting the family of veteran footballer Joe Kadenge, who succumbed to a long battle with diabetes.
Ambani wondered why the DP did not visit and help Kadenge when he was alive.
