Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru on Monday threatened to sue rap music artiste King Kaka for defamation following the release of his well-received hit spoken-word song titled 'Wajinga Nyinyi'.

Waiguru through a suit notice served to King Kaka by her lawyers and which has widely been shared on social media, says that the song made particular 'malicious and reckless' references to her without any regard to the 'loss, damage or injury' that she may suffer as a result.

"In the said song, you have uttered various allegations and innuendos concerning our client which are wholly false and deceptive and without any basis whatsoever and which have amounted to gross and blatant misrepresentation of facts and deliberate misc characterization of our client's conduct," the notice reads in parts.

Consequently, majority of Kenyans on Twitter whom since the release of the song on Saturday have been cheering King Kaka for speaking truth to power, are rallying behind the artiste under the hashtag #IStandWithKingKaka where they continue to fiercely troll Waiguru with zero chills.

Social media shenanigans aside, it is within Waiguru's inherent constitutional rights to seek legal redress if she indeed feels that she has been defamed by King Kaka's song. No compromise on that! But will this move yield her anything substantial or it is an absurd and senseless pursuit of vanity? Methinks it is the latter for the following reasons;

1. The current public mood

It would have been wise for Waiguru to hold on her horses till after the dust settles and the hysterical excitement ignited by the song has subsidies, then silently unleash her secret weapon (defamation suit) on the artiste when everybody has forgotten him and the so-called revolution and gone back to business as usual.

But as it is now, the governor is engaging in wild goose chase by trying to swim against very strong turbulence which may eventually yield her more pain than gain.

2. The court process will expose and bruise her political underbelly more, the very thing she is seeking to protect

Perhaps nobody else paraphrases this with greater clarity than the controversial exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna who on Monday reacting to Waiguru's move tweeted: "Despot Uhuru Kenyatta's mistress @AnneWaiguru is among the most corrupt Kenyans holding public office.@RabbitTheKing should DARE her to go ahead a sue him for defamation. That will be a wonderful PLATFORM to OFFLOAD REVOLUTIONARY weapons on the despots."

3. She is not the only one 'defamed' by the song

Waiguru's lawyers should perharps advise her to take a cold glass of mango juice and with enough popcorns at hand, sit down, relax and tame her wild excitement for litigations. After all, the entire Kenyan political elite is 'defamed' by the song, but will all of them go to court? And can she sue everyone saying all manner of slanderous things against her especially on social media?

At times it is advisable to play dump, accept and move on! In any way, public opinion as regards to her involvement or noninvolvement to the multi-billion NYS scandal was formed a long time ago and the courts can do very little to change it.
