Nairobi County Woman Representative Esther Passaris and her Kwale counterpart Zuleikha Hassan have responded to King Kaka's latest hit song 'Wajinga Nyinyi.
In the song which has continued to elicit mixed reactions in the country, King Kaka accused Woman Representatives of misusing money meant for providing sanitary pads to young girls, and women in their counties.
Is it true women reps are the ones eating pads money (ndio wanadishi pesa ya pads) meant for girls?" he posed in the song.
Reacting to the claim, Kwale's Juma Hassan said: " I hear 'Wanjinga Nyinyi' by Rabbit has mentioned that women reps have eaten money meant for pads for girls (Nasikia #WajingaNyinyi by @RabbitTheKing ametaja women reps tumekula pesa ya “pads meant for girls”)," she tweeted.
"Some women reps were given pads for one school term by the Ministry of Gender, not money. In Kwale, we ditributed all pads, with every girl receiving 4 pads. There is enough evidence. (Tulipewa pads za 1 school term na wizara ya Gender, sio pesa.Kwale tuligawanya mpaka packet ya mwisho, kila girl 4 mkononi mwake.Ushahidi uko tele," she added.
On her part, Passaris schooled King Kaka on the channel used to distribute sanitary pads to schools.
"He has no idea that we do not control the sanitary towels budget, we only aided the distribution (not all counties received) with the county Commissioners office and all the area chiefs. We as women reps have also been following up sanitary towels with the current line Ministry Education," Passaris said.
