Naivas supermarket has now decided to suspends sale of red meat in all its stores in the country following the revelation by NTV.

The move has been reached pending results of the tests of meat sold by the stores in different parts of the country.

In a statement on Thursday, the supermarket said it will no longer sell meat to customers after the concerns were raised.

The management also revealed that there are plans to subject the meat to independent lab tests to determine whether it is good for human consumption or not.

The supermarket divulged that there are plans for a step-by-step verification to be undertaken in each of their stores as it seeks to regain the confidence of meat lovers following the revelation.

“We will only be selling white meat for now in all our butcheries," the statement signed by Naivas Chief Commercial Officer, Willy Kimani read in part.

Kimani noted that the welfare of customers will remain paramount as Naivas seeks to remain at the top of the game.
