The two, in the spirit of their 2018 truce, have proposed constitutional changes to expand the executive arm of government as the solution to government exclusion.

But Koigi now says that the two are short of ideas on how to deal with the growing tribalism menace in the country, and think the solution is by appeasing a few tribal lords.

He claimed that Uhuru and Raila are out to push for a system where all notable tribal representatives will be accommodated in government, in a bid to appease their rival supporters.

"I think what is being sought by these two leaders is to create more leadership slots. They think each tribe should be represented in government (Nafikiria kinachotafutwa na viongozi hawa wawili ni kuongeza nafasi ya uongozi. Wanadhani inahitajika ili kila kabila iwakilishwe serikalini)," Koigi said.

The former Nakuru senatorial aspirant made the remarks during an interview on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday where he opposed the proposed changes, saying that the nation already has a beautiful constitution and the only problem being that leaders are not willing to implement and abide by it.

Koigi added that Uhuru and Raila have failed to realize that what the nation needs are hardworking national leaders who can serve without associating themselves with tribes.

"They think leaders must be tribal and have not realized that we can have national leaders (Hawa wanaona lazima viongozi wawe wa makabila. Hawaoni kama kuna viongozi wa kitaifa)," he added.

His opposition, however, comes as a contradiction to the alliance he set with Raila after losing the Jubilee Party ticket for the Nakuru senatorial seat in 2017.
