Celebrated hype man Davidson Ngibuini alias DNG is now accusing local musicians of living a fake lifestyle, claiming that only a few are making money out of their art.
According to DNG, over 10,000 musicians in the country are either broke or living fake lifestyles, contrary to the flamboyance they try to put out.
In an interview on Milele FM, Wednesday, the hype man said that this brings itself out well by simply looking at the complaints that were made by musicians over poor payment weeks ago.
He said that any musician making money out of their art was not expected to complain when the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) paid them Sh2,530 earlier in the month.
"By the time an artist is complaining about Sh2,530, do you think that person is moneyed?” DNG was quoted by SDE.
He exposed one such musician whom he said has been shooting videos in the United States yet his mobile account balance showed that he had nothing before the payment.
“Surely, if you have money, you shoot videos in the USA then you send me a screenshot complaining…There is an artist who sent me the message, the M-Pesa balance was nil-nil. Fake! Fake!” he noted
According to DNG, the only musicians he knows who make something out of their work are Khaligraph Jones, Timmy T-Dat, Wyre, Nameless and Jua Cali.
