Speaking on Monday, the MP claimed that he is being pushed by some top state officials to sell Odinga's candidature in the Mt Kenya region, which he swore to never do, even at gunpoint.

However, in an interview on Tuesday, he claimed that he has no problem selling anyone in the region, provided that his constituents allow him.

He said that his main problem with the Raila is that the people don't want to hear anything about him in the area, hence his refusal to endorse him as he is being pressured to.

"It's not my personal problem to sell anyone in Mt Kenya, we listen to what mwananchi is saying," he said on Citizen TV's News Night show on Tuesday.

The MP challenged the people who have been pushing him to endorse Raila, naming Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho as one of them, to face the masses.

He cautioned that should he attempt the same with the current situation on the ground, then he will have committed political suicide.

"I cannot commit political suicide. If they want me to sell him (Raila) they should come and talk to the mwananchi," he added.

The MP has been seen to lean more towards Deputy President William Ruto's side and has been endorsing his 2022 presidential ambitions, alongside a host of other Mt Kenya lawmakers.
