The People Republic of China has offered to sponsor more than 200 students across the country.
Confirming the new development, Zhao ZiYuan, the Minister Councilor at the Chinese Embassy said that his home government has good plans for Kenyan students who want to pursue further education.
The government has offered to sponsor 182 students to study in China while 50 of the needy students are set to undertake their studies within local universities. The revelation was made during a farewell reception at the embassy in Nairobi.
“The Chinese Embassy has been supporting the education institutions of Kenya in a bid to help young Kenyans to pursue their dreams, through different ways,” said Zhao ZiYuan, the Minister Councilor at the Chinese Embassy.
The beneficiaries of the sponsorship are expected to undertake their studies at different public universities including Egerton University, Kenyatta University, Moi University and The University of NairobiThe ambassador said that he is impressive with the rising number of universities in country.
He also noted that through education the country will meet its objectives as far as development is concerned.
“It is impressive to note that these universities have made remarkable progress in academic innovation and international cooperation which makes them stand out. Many times when I visited these universities,” Zhao said.
