The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has cautioned that the country will experience a cyclone, which is expected to hit some parts of the country.
According to the weatherman, cyclone Belna, which has since hit Madagascar, will affect five counties in Kenya, namely Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Kajiado and Taita Taveta.
MET department head Stella Aura said that the cyclone will not, however, affect other parts of the nation, as such cyclones do not form within five degrees north and south of the equator.
"Belna is currently influencing the weather over Kenya indirectly, by creating favourable conditions for heavy rainfall in the southern parts of the country," she is quoted by the Star on Wednesday.
She said that consequently, the mentioned areas will be receiving intense rains even as the entire country continues to receive rains which have been running for over two weeks.
According to Aura, the mentioned counties are expected to receive morning, afternoon and night rains on Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.
"They are likely to experience morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers over a few places throughout the forecast period. However, the morning rains and afternoon showers on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday are likely to spread to several places," she added.
Already, many parts of the country have recorded heavy rains, which have resulted in the destruction of property through floods.
In some parts, they have also destroyed roads, cutting off transport.
