Chief Justice David Maraga on Thursday clarified that there is no fight between the judiciary and the executive.
Speaking during the official launch of the State of the Judiciary and Administration of Justice Annual Report (SOJAR) 2018/2019, Maraga said that he was misunderstood when he raised concerns over several issues in his capacity as the head of Judiciary.
The CJ said that the two arms of government enjoy cordial ties.
"When I had a press conference last December, I raised a few issues that some of which have been misunderstood. I saw from social media that the arms of the government are at loggerheads. That's not right and that is not correct," Maraga said.
In December 2019, Maraga had lamented that the judiciary was facing endless challenges because of frustration from the executive.
He claimed that he was not being treated with respect by the government and wondered why other officials in government are recognised in public functions yet he is ignored.
Maraga threatened to skip different functions and made his threat true when he failed to show up during Jamhuri Day Celebrations.
The decision of the CJ elicited mixed reactions from different quarters.
