The Mombasa County boss said that the party is well prepared for the 2022 elections and would not seek anyone's endorsement.

"2022 tutajipanga. Tumejipanga zamani na tutajipanga huko mbeleni. (We will prepare for 2022. We prepared a long time ago and we will prepare in the future)," Governor Joho said.

"Ata mimi natafuta urais lakini sitaki endorsement. (I am also looking for the presidency but I don't want anybody's endorsement)," he added.

Joho revealed that he would also be taking a shot at the presidency in 2022, as his two-term tenure as Mombasa governor winds down.

2022 presidential politics has seen allies of DP Ruto and veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga trade harsh words.

The county boss called on DP Ruto to accord Odinga the respect he deserves, hailing the ODM supremo as a master political strategist.

While Odinga has been mum on the 2022 presidential election debate, DP Ruto has stated clearly his intentions of taking a stab at the presidency.
