Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama on Saturday morning ushered in Deputy President William Ruto in Makindu, Ukambani.
The former Wiper party member has recently hinted plans to form a coalition with Deputy President William Ruto, who is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
DP Ruto jetted in to attend the burial of the mother to former Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopha Mailu.
"DP has just arrived at Makindu to attend the burial of mother to former CS Dr Cleopa Mailu. He was received by Former Machakos senator Muthama, Kibwezi West MP Dr Patrick Musimba. Others are Prof Philip Kaloki and Machakos Town MP Dr Victor Munyaka and Senator Murkomen," said Essy Okenyuri, an aide at Ruto's Harambee House Annex.
Muthama has broke ranks with former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, who disowned statement that he was keen to form a coalition with Dr Ruto.
Dr Ruto is increasingly becoming isolated and on Saturday denied reports that he was blocked from accessing State House on Thursday in Mombasa.
"Kenyans should ignore this choreographed, paid-for propaganda nonsense," Ruto said in a tweet. He added, "I was in the office the whole day never in Mombasa."
Last month, Muthama declared himself the Ukambani kingpin, adding that he was keen to unite the region.
