Uhuru has been under sharp criticism, especially from the youth, following his appointment of former Othaya MP Mary Wambui to head the National Employment Authority.

Aladwa noted that though President Uhuru might have his reasons, he should consider the youth when making such appointments.

The outspoken MP criticised Uhuru for sidelining the youth in State jobs despite riding on their support to secure his first win in 2013 and promising to create jobs for young people.

"I would like the president considered the youth because these appointments have not been fair. He also promised to consider them (Ningependa rais aangazie vijana maana hizi appointments hazijakuwa fair. Pia aliwaahidi atawaangalia)," he said during an interview on Radio Jambo on Saturday morning.

Former Makadara MP Bernard Mutura also weighed in on the issue, arguing that Kenya risks lagging behind ideologically should the trend continue, adding that the old appointees have nothing new to offer.

He noted that most of the people being appointed are former State officials who are bringing nothing new to the table, and stressed on the need for inclusion of new brains.

"It pains seeing all appointments going to the elderly. Don't put retirees there, we now need fresh ideas (Inaleta uchungu kuona appointment zote ni wazee wanapewa. Usiweke wazee ambao wamestaafu pale, sasa tunataka mafikira mapya)," he added.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has advised Wambui to reject the appointment.
