A section of church leaders from the Nyanza region have now called upon the government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, to probe the matter before it is too late.

Led by Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Bondo, Prof John Kodia, the clergymen have appealed to the government to take the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

The clergymen argued that the DP cannot make unsubstantiated claims on such a sensitive issue, and reminded the government that it owes Kenyans a comprehensive statement as far as the alleged threats are concerned.

The church leaders urged the government to shed more light on the matter, so as to lower the tension following the revelation of the claims.

“We urge the government security organ to come out with a statement either to dispel or confirm the rumour. All we want to see is that action will be taken,” he told the press, as quoted by Capital FM.

Kodia referred to the case of businessman Jacob Juma whose plight was ignored only to be murdered in cold blood several days down the line.

The remarks by the church leaders come at a time when the office of the Director of Criminal Investigation has embarked on a mission to unmask the face behind the letter in Ruto’s alleged assassination plot.
