While the DP is yet to record any statement, sources from his office claim that all indications are that the letter was drafted by individuals who wanted to cause scare in government.

According to sources close to Kinoti, already, detectives have raided a house in Karen where the letter is believed to have been authored. They are currently pursuing two people believed to be behind the scheme.

“A lot has been retrieved from that office. The officers are presently pursuing two individuals, who are suspected to have been behind the fake letter to cause a scare,” said an official from DCI.

The letter, DCI adds, was not addressed to Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, who receives all letters from CSs addressing the president.

While CSs Peter Munya, Sicily Kariuki and Joe Mucheru have refused to record a statement until Ruto registers a formal complaint, PS Karanja Kibicho recorded a statement accusing Ruto of harassment.

“The PS was at the DCI headquarters last evening (Tuesday) from 7pm to record a statement on the past events. He was giving his version on the happenings and gave details of those who witnessed the same,” disclosed a top Government official aware of the development.

He continued; “He was not there to record a statement on the alleged La Mada Hotel meeting but to give details of what has transpired in the recent past with his boss.”

The letter was purportedly written by a minister whose identity is yet to be revealed. It was first seen making rounds on social media. It's not clear if Ruto will make a statement.
