Deputy President William Ruto's deceased pilot captain Mario Magonga was finally buried on Saturday at his home in Mabonde village, Trans-Nzoia County.
The 45-year-old pilot and four Americans died after their helicopter crashed around Lobolo in Central Island National Park in Turkana county, on 3rd March this year.
Speaking during the burial, the family of the deceased led by his brother Abdulmalik Magonga, however, demanded for investigations into the crash that killed Mario.
"We don’t understand what caused the crash. We are asking for proper investigations by KCAA. A comprehensive report will certainly make us come to terms with his death,’’ Abdulmalik Magonga said as quoted by Standard.
He also demanded for an explanation from the government citing that it was against the aviation policy for pilots to fly choppers past 6:00 pm.
On behalf of the family, Abdulmalik appealed to the government to provide a report on the cause of the crash.
“It will take time for us to come to terms with the loss and if indeed there was a malfunction in the engine, we appeal to the government to get a comprehensive report on it,’’ he said.
The burial ceremony was attended by Kitutu Chache Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka.
