Addressing the Media in Kisii on Thursday, the council lead by its secretary Samuel Bosire Angwenyi have said the colonial highway is too narrow to accommodate the increasing number of vehicles growing as it dawns.

"The highway was constructed by colonialists when vehicles were a pinch long time ago. Now vehicles are many and the road is now too narrow. There jam daily leading to the slow movement of cars," Said Angwenyi.

The Elders have requested the National Government through area Members of Parliament to initiate plans of expanding the busy highway to reduce time spent by transit lorries and Cars.

"We urge the national government through our able members of parliament to help us expand this road. Loses are incurred because transit lorries spend a lot of time in Jams. This is why you can imagine how much the country is losing per day," urged Angwenyi.

The Elders congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi for their tireless effort of uniting Kenyans and the fight against corruption.
