Kiambu County Assembly Majority Leader Anthony Ikonya on Friday got a temporary reprieve after Jubilee Party announced it has not ratified his impeachment.
Ikonya, the Kiambu Town Member of County Assembly (MCA) was discharged from his position alongside his deputy Kiganjo MCA Alex Kabuu.
Others who were also impeached when the MCAs held a Kamukunji on Wednesday evening were Chief Whip James Kimani Mburu (Mwiki MCA) and his deputy Margret Njeri Gatonye (Nominated).
However, on Friday, the party said it was not aware of the changes, noting that if there was any, Secretary General Raphael Tuju, will make an official statement.
"We wish to clarify that no changes have been made to the Kiambu County Assembly Leadership as reported by some media houses. Official communication about any change within the Party will be done through the Secretary General Hon. Raphael Tuju's office," read a statement on Jubilee Party's Twitter handle.
Ikonya and his team had been accused of “sleeping with the executive”, intimidation, arrogance and being unruly, inability to handle party members and poor performance by the assembly and its committees.
The MCAs had elected Ndeiya Ward Representative Gideon Gachara Gitau as the new Majority Leader with Ann Wanjiku Kariuki (Nominated) as his deputy.
The Chief Whip seat had gone to Theta MCA Simon Kuria Karema and was to be deputised by her nominated counterpart Margret Wanjira Mwago.
