Over 55 passengers on Friday morning escaped death by a whisker after a bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident near Maili Tisa trading center in the outskirts of Eldoret town along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
Eyewitnesses say the accident happened as the driver of the bus that was traveling from Nairobi to Bungoma lost control leading to a head-on collision with an oncoming trailer that was heading to Eldoret town.
There were no casualties in the accident and several passengers who sustained injuries were taken to the Moi Teaching an Referral Hospital in Eldoret town where they are undergoing treatment."I didn't know what happened.
It happened so first and the next thing I heard was people wailing. I've been injured on the legs and I feel my ribs hurting as well," said one of the passengers.
The accident caused a heavy traffic snarl up on the busy highway that is mostly used by long distance trailers traveling to the neighboring Uganda.
