A 55-year-old primary school teacher in Nakuru county is being sought after he was accused of defiling a deaf and mentally ill girl.
David Korir is said to have forced the 16-year-old into his house while her disabled mother was away and sexually assaulted her.
A neighbour who declined to be named said she saw Korir pulling the girl into his house.
She said she went to call neighbours after he locked the door and found him with the girl on the bed.
"We broke into the house and rescued the girl while he escaped," she said.
The girl's mother reported the case on Monday with the help of the girl's uncle. The family also asked the National Council for Persons with Disabilities to intervene.
Residents threatened to take the matter in their own hands saying the suspect has been taking advantage of school girls and police have failed to arrest him. Officers at the Keringet police station have however said they are investigating the matter.
When asked, Korir did not deny the allegations but instead sought to conceal the incident.
