Gem member of parliament Elishah Odhiambo has hit out at those using a single brush to tar women from the Kikuyu community.
In tweet on Saturday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator said that it was not right for Kikuyu women to be branded as murderous just because a number of them had been implicated in murder cases.
He went on to add that those who engaged in murder plots were in the minority and were not a representation of the majority of women from the community.
"A few Kikuyu women who have murdered their husbands so as to inherit their multimillion estates should not be seen as representatives of the gikuyu community. There are wonderful kikuyu women who hold high moral standards and exceptional character. Let's not castigate them, " he tweeted.
His tweet comes in the wake of the alleged murder of Dutch business tycoon Tob Cohen who is said to have been killed by his wife Sarah Wairimu.
Social media users have made much about the ethnicity of Sarah Wairimu with some using it to paint women from the Kikuyu community as murderous.
Tob Cohen's body was discovered in an underground storage at his Kitusuru home in the early stages of decomposition.
His wife Sarah Wairimu, who is the chief suspect, has rejected the murder charges leveled against her.
