Gender and Youth Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rachel Shebesh on Friday caused laughter following her remarks about Dr Edwin Abonyo, husband to the late Joyce Laboso.
Speaking during the requiem mass of Laboso in Bomet, the former Nairobi Woman Representative expressed her admiration for Abonyo.
She said that while Abonyo was brought to Laboso from" heaven, theirs, hers included, came to her walking".
She recalled how the late Bomet Governor repeatedly praised her husband to her friends saying she was lucky to have such a man for a husband.
"Edwin, you are a true reflection of love. Joyce told us that she is luckier than all of us combined and, I agree. You are all those husbands who come from heaven."
"Ours came walking, whereas you came from heaven. She said it a thousand times. If you did not know that, know it today. All the conversations I had with Joyce were about your love,” said Shebesh amid laughter from the mourners.
She made the remarks at the Bomet Green Stadium where a memorial service for Laboso was held.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga are among those who attended the service.
Laboso succumbed to ovarian cancer on Monday and is set to be buried today (Saturday) in Koru, Kisumu County.
