A section of Kisumu County residents affected by floods following the constant heavy rains in the region, on Tuesday received early Christmas gifts from a sugar company in the area.
Officials from Kabras Sugar company visited the affected families and donated food stuff and other necessities.
Kabras Sugar Company Spokesman Edwin Achayo, said the company management decided to visit the families in the spirit of brotherhood, and to offer support especially during this festive season.
“We just thought it was right for us as a company to come through after what had befallen the people of this region. They lost their livelihood and even crops, our MD thought it would be right to assist them,” said Achayo.
Speaking after receiving the goodies, Achuodho residents lauded Kabras Sugar company for showing them love, adding that other companies should emulate Kabras.
“Thanks a lot, West Kenya for having us in mind. In our area what we do a lot is practicing sugar cane farming. We are so grateful for the offers,” said Stephen Obunga, a resident of Achuodho.
In addition to the donations, Kabras reportedly offered to facilitate medical care for the affected families.
