Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi has pleaded with residents of Nyamataro in Kitutu Chache South constituency to be patient as the contractor working on the Kisii-Kisumu road is working around the clock to complete the road.
Kigochi said that residents should stop paralyzing transport on the busy road due to dust.
"I want to ask the people of Nyamataro to stop blocking road users along the Kisii-Kisumu road on grounds that the road is too dust. The contractor is working hard to complete the construction works and therefore, unnecessary protests won't help," he stated.
The commissioner condemned the protests held by locals on Sunday arguing that residents to embrace peace and allow the contractor to complete the project.
According to Kigochi, construction of the road will not take one day noting that residents should use alternative means to air their grievances instead of holding unlawful demos.
"Going on rampage will not help in ending the dust on the road. Let residents be calm as the contractor is speeding up the construction of the road. Unlawful protests blocking the road will not be condoned," he added.
