Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) team has launched a probe into a video that made rounds on social media in which a group of people were recorded beating a student.
In the viral video that surfaced on social media on Wednesday, a group of well-built men are seen beating a defenceless student who had allegedly visited CDF offices for bursary enquiry.
Another bunch of CDF workers are heard pleading with the rowdy colleagues to forgive the student, whom they accused of 'spoiling' the name of area MP.
The video was taken in Bomachoge Borabu constituency, which is located in Kisii County.
On Thursday, DCI office said detectives from Kenyenya police station are investigating the matter before taking action.
The DCI office further appealed to the student who was assaulted to report the matter to the police so that he can aid in investigations.
"Good afternoon @Shikohkihika. DCI Detectives based in Kenyenya commenced investigations into this matter with the sole aim of bringing all those involved to Justice," read the tweet.
"Meanwhile, the assaulted person is hereby invited to contact the DCI office in Kenyenya for further action. Thanks," the DCI office further said.
Prof Ogutu on Wednesday confirmed the incident that had dragged officials in his CDF office, adding that the incident happened over three months ago.
The first-term legislator further said those involved in the saga were sacked immediately he got wind of what had happened in his CDF offices.
"Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The said officers were sacked three months ago when the incident happened. On the legal action, the victim should pursue it," he told a local radio station, Egesa FM
It is not the first time Ogutu is being dragged to controversy. Early this year, his supporters clashed with those of opponents over alleged state of poor roads in the region.
