Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has responded to calls by renowned blogger Dennis Itumbi to have celebrated World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge given a presidential award after his latest achievement.

This is after Kipchoge on Saturday became the first person in the World to run a full marathon race under two hours.

Consequently, Itumbi proposed that Kipchoge be handed a CGH medal as a show of the country's gratefulness for his great achievement.

"Because we now know that no man is limited, Eliud Kipchoge, deserves a CGH, the highest medal Kenya reserves for its finest sons and daughters," he wrote.

In a quick rejoinder, Mwangi claimed such honours will only demean Kipchoge, on grounds that they are 'reserved for criminals'.

"Giving Eliud Kipchoge that useless award is demeaning his achievements. Those awards have been reserved for socialites, criminals, drug dealers, people who fund presidential campaigns, githeri man and the likes. Eliud is the greatest and doesn't belong there. Your wish is trash!" he said.
