His name is John Sparks who set himself the arduous journalistic task of adding more flesh and substance to the stowaway story.

According to his report entitled 'The Stowaway: The Man Who Fell from the Sky', the stowaway's name is Paul Manyasi and he hails from Kakamega in Western Kenya.

He joined the outlet in 2015 as a Moscow correspondent, having served for more than 4 years for Channel 4 news as an Asia correspondent.

He was while working for Channel 4 News, based in Bangkok where he filed stories from across Asia.

John Sparks has won international awards from his coverage of the plight of the Rohingya in Myanmar and the Muslim Uigurs in China.

He won the Amnesty International Award in 2013 and later on the Hong Kong Human Rights Press Award.

According to a short bio posted on Facebook by Sky News, John Sparks worked at a clinic in Port Elizabeth as a law student.

He hails from Thunder Bay in Canada and loves backpacking.
