Renowned lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi now claims that the war against corruption may not be won any time soon.
According to the vocal lawyer, there are a lot of kickbacks perpetuated especially in the country’s infrastructure projects.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the lawyer further claimed that the war against graft will remain a story unless China is stopped from allegedly bribing leaders.
“For Kenya to win the war against corruption especially in infrastructure projects and the resulting kickbacks…CHINA MUST STOP BRIBING OUR LEADERS...I hope one day we have CHINALEAKS,” lawyer Abdullahi tweeted.
Lawyer Abdullahi concerns comes as the government steps up the war on corruption.
On Monday, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered for arrest and prosecution of National Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Henry Rotich, his Principal Secretary (PS) Kamau Thugge and 25 other suspects in connection to the Sh21 Billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
On Tuesday, Rotich was arraigned before Milimani Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate and pleaded not guilty to 15 counts of corruption charges.
Other suspects charged on Tuesday are East African Community PS Susan Jemtai Koech and former Managing Director KVDA David Kipchumba Kimosop.
The DPP said that he has concrete evidence to prosecute the suspects who face charges of conspiring to defraud the government, abuse of office, willful failure to adhere to procurement regulations among others.
The Magistrate Court is expected to deliver a ruling on CS Rotich and other suspect’s application to be released on bail today at 4.30 pm.
