Machakos county commissioner Esther Maina has warned that bars selling alcohol to minors will be closed down.
Addressing journalists in her office on Monday Maina said that the police will conduct patrols to ensure clubs and bars are adhering to the set rules.
She said many clubs take advantage of the festive season to make money thus selling alcohol to anyone without caring about their age.
"Anyone under the age of 18 should not be allowed to enter any bar or night club. Bar attendance must be high on alert not to allow underage children," she said.
"Failure to this the bar will be closed and the owner and the attendants arrested to face prosecution," she added.
She urged parents to take care of their kids this festive season so as not to fall into bad companies.
She pleaded with them to closely monitor their underage female children and instil morals and avoid giving them excess freedom which may lead them astray.
"During this festive season, parents need to be attentive with their children and monitor them closely. Underage girls sneaking from their homes to attend night clubs and drink alcohol will be arrested, everyone must be responsible," she said.
