Currently, constructions are ongoing in one of his Machakos residences to turn it into a centre for political operations, a hint that the leader is eyeing a position in the county in the 2022 polls.

And while he has confirmed that renovations are ongoing, he on Sunday remained mum on his 2022 intentions and seat of choice, saying that the house will be a unity centre.

He noted that he is seeking to use the premises to unite Machakos' political leadership, which currently seems to be in the process of collapsing.

"I am a leader who does not need an office to lead. I have my residence and that is where I will bring together the region’s political leadership. We cannot afford to be divided as a people," he told the Sunday Standard.

However, the paper has since established that the outspoken leader recently got his degree, a sign that he could be eyeing the Machakos gubernatorial seat.

In the 2017 elections, he refused to defend his seat owing to disagreements with his Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

He now says that the Ukambani region has the numbers and can negotiate for a bigger position at the national political level.
