The Nairobi County Commissioner Flora Mworoa has weighed in on the ongoing leadership wrangles plaguing the Nairobi Central SDA church.
Speaking to members of the press from her office on Saturday, the county commissioner said that the church would only be reopened after the warring factions resolve their differences.
"The security committee for Westlands sub-county decided that that church will be closed until such a time when they will be able to agree on how to resolve the wrangles that have been in that church, " Flora Mworoa said.
Her words come amid growing tensions in the church with worshippers engaging in physical fights.
There was a heavy security presence at the church on Saturday by officers from the dreaded General Service Unit (GSU).
Worshipers who turned up for worship on Saturday were sent away by the officers.
Scores of Kenyans reacted with shock as footage of members of the church engaging in physical fights went viral.
Tensions in the church were triggered after some members were expelled from the church.
In a strongly-worded letter, the Central Kenya Conference (CKC) warned those supporting expelled members of the church, pinning the blame of the violence on "rowdy members of the church."
