Uasin Gishu County Commissioner, Abdirisack Jaldesa has ordered all bars in the County to be closed by 5 pm on August 24th and 25th.
Speaking to the press at his office on Saturday Jaldesa said this will help facilitate the census exercise.
“We are going to close all our social places especially the bars at 5 pm to give you an hour to be home before the enumerators arrive at 6 pm so that they can find you at home,” he said.
“All bars are expected to be closed by exactly 5 Pm so that people reach at their places before the exercise starts at 6:00 Pm," added the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
“We will have enforcement officers from both the National and County to ensure that the directive is implemented and those who will found will face the full force of the law,” added Jaldesa.
He, however, that hotels and industries working for 24 hours will not be closed but instead they should set a place will be counted.
He called on residents to cooperate with those conducting the exercise and warned those who will abscond saying it’s against the law since it only comes after 10 years.
Jaldesa said the preparation for the census exercise is complete and are expecting after 7 days to register 1.2 million residents.
He further said the security of residents is guaranteed therefore no cause of alarm.
