Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi on Friday dismissed Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid, arguing that he has no capacity to lead.
For months now, Dr Ruto has been traversing the country popularising his bid, targeting regions that voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga in previous polls.
Among those targeted are Gusii region, Western Kenya, Coast and Nairobi. Dr Ruto has visited the regions several times since 2017 polls.
But at Bogichora in Nyamira on Friday, Wamunyinyi dismissed Dr Ruto's bid as a big joke, adding that Kenyans are not ready for his leadership.
According to him, Ruto's chance to fix issues in Kenya should be helping President Uhuru Kenyatta to deliver since they were jointly elected.
"He's the least qualified to lead us. He was given mandate with President Uhuru Kenyatta so he can't run away from the current mismanagement of the country," he said.
"In Western Kenya, we shall ensure his bid collapses. This should be the same case in Nyamira. He has all the time to fix what he wants before elections."
A section of legislators in Gusii led by North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko support Dr Ruto's bid. The team insists that Ruto is development oriented.
In the last two years, Dr Ruto has made over 20 trips to Kisii and Nyamira. He has been facing resistance from a section ODM leaders.
