According to reports by K24, the man, James Macharia stole an unknown amount of money from his girlfriend, Florence Wanjiru Karuku, who is an administration police constable at Thika.

Karuku was arrested on Thursday by detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) in connection to the Nairobi West ATM money heist.

It has now emerged that the cash stolen by Macharia is part of the Sh72 million that was stolen in Nairobi West earlier on this month.

The police have revealed that the cash stolen from Florence was from her sister, Eunice Wangari Karuku, who is a Kenya Defense Forces officer.

Eunice had received the money from her brother Simon Gichuhi Karuku, who is also an administration police constable.

The three were arrested on Thursday night and taken to Lang’ata Police Station.

The police have now established that Florence called her boyfriend when she received the money from her sister. Unfortunately, the boyfriend stole the money from her.

The suspect was last seen in Thika town after stealing the money.

Several people have already been arrested and charged by the police, with some cash recovered.

Vehicles believed to have been used in this deal have also been impounded by the police.
