Most people do not know the damage they cause to their bodies once they sleep with their TV on especially in the same room.
Some of us rely on watching TV to sleep which is an illusion since their eyes get droopy and before they find out, they are in dreamland.
They will later wake up feeling tired. This is because of the blue light that emanates from the TV and it negatively affects the quality of their sleep. The light also affects the circadian rhythm making you think it is waking time.
The light hinders melatonin hormone production in the brain which is responsible for controlling how people sleep, thus affecting your sleep. You will find yourself staying on more hours than you intend and this will lead to irregular sleep patterns hence causing insomnia.
Some of us tend to watch their TV in the dark, which is also is harmful to the eyes since all the light meets the pupil making them dilate and affect your sight in the long run.
According to Dr Muehlbach, if you are able to sleep with your TV on, you are prone to encountering micro-arousals which are the movements you make by tossing and turning when you are not totally awake and hence you are not aware of your restlessness.
This makes you wake up feeling tired due to the tossing in bed.
