A week after a Jubilee legislator was charged with defilement of a school girl who went missing for several days, another school girl has been reported missing.
Clare Obonyo is said to have gone missing despite having been cleared by her parents to report back to Sironga Girls High School last week.
According to her relative Julius Ombati, the Form one student cannot be traced in the institution, raising concerns about safety of students.
He has now appealed to members of the public with information about her whereabouts to report to the distressed family. The institution is yet to issue a statement.
"One of my relative, a form one student, is missing from school. The institution cannot trace her yet we cleared her last week to return to school," he said.
County Commissioner Amos Mariba, in a phone call, said the case is yet to be formally reported to authorities within Nyamira County.
He urged parents to always ensure they accompany their children to school during opening dates to avoid recurrence of such cases.
"I haven't received any complaint so far but parents should often accompany students to school during opening dates to avert such cases," he said.
Last week, Magwagwa MCA Fred Omayio was arrested and charged with defilement of a Kisumu Girls Form 4 girl, who went missing for several days.
The MCA is due to hear his bail application ruling on Monday. He has been in custody, a move that puts his political career on a brink of collapsing.
