The firebrand lawmaker took the message to his Facebook account where he has strongly defended the Nyeri boda-boda riders who have been allegedly accused of being Mungiki claiming that the narrative is being funded by some national leaders through the MCAs as a 'revenge' to Saturday's event led by CS Mwangi Kiunjuri.

"Since yesterday there seems to be a concerted effort to introduce a narrative that young men from Nyeri town, especially the over 1,000 who are in the Boda Boda business, are Mungiki. This effort is being funded by a couple of national leaders who are facilitating a couple of local MCAs to push it online & on national media.

"The idea behind this narrative is to ‘revenge’ because when these same leaders tried to turn a development project event in Nyeri on Saturday into a political rally, they failed," read Ngunjiri's post.

Ngunjiri further revealed that he was shocked because it is a narrative not only driven by some leaders in Nyeri but also from the wider Mt. Kenya region.

"But what has shocked me the most is that we have leaders from within our own Nyeri, and from within our own wider Mt Kenya region, who are also party to the idea that it is okay to brand an entire community - or a generation within it - as criminals for political purposes!" noted Ngunjiri.

Ngunjiri's sentiments come after an event in Nyeri presided by Agriculture CS Kiunjuri turn chaotic after 2022 succession politics took the centre stage.
